Project What?

We know the question has been in your head at least once.  We've been asked it several times in various ways.

Project what?  What does 611 mean?  What do you do?

Project 611 is a Christian-based nonprofit organization whose mission is built upon Isaiah 61:1:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives...

This verse is repeated or alluded to several times in the Bible (Luke 4:18; Matthew 11:5; Matthew 25:35-40). In essence, as Christians, we are called to meet people where they are, and show them God's love by addressing their physical needs in order to tap into their spiritual needs.  We have been empowered, through annointing of the Holy Spirit, to bring care, counseling, and confidence to those who are poor, oppressed, and imprisoned.

As an organization, Project 611 strives to adhere to this mandate through various local and global outreach programs.  Locally, we find agencies who have outreach programs that align with our mission, and send volunteers to assist in whatever ways are needed.  We also conduct various clothing and food drives, mentor young people, and provide outreach training classes.  Globally, we provide international missions training and send missionaries out to share God's love and truth with the world.  Our goal is raise up an ethnically, socially, generationally, and economically diverse group of local and global missionaries.

Think of it like this...
Project 611 strives to provide people the opportunity to be of service to others.

So what is Project 611?  We are you.  We are simple people, doing ordinary things, that become extraordinary through God's power.
